Validation

Practise Linehan's 6 Levels of Validation with a patient who needs to feel heard. Learn to be present, reflect accurately, read between the lines, validate through history, normalise, and be radically genuine.

What the feedback looks at

Rated against: Adapted from Marsha Linehan's levels of validation (Linehan, 1993, Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder; Linehan, 1997, in Bohart & Greenberg, Empathy Reconsidered). The level framework is used with citation; every anchor below is PsychBase's own wording. These anchors rate how WELL each level was done, which is a different question from the published observer-rated instrument in this area — the DBT-VLCS (Carson-Wong & Rizvi) codes whether each level was present in a session. Level 1 (Being Present) is taught in the companion course but is not scored here: it rests on eye contact, silence and body language, which a text transcript cannot show. Its text-measurable part is scored under Emotional Tolerance. Scores are generated by an AI supervisor and are not equivalent to ratings by a trained human coder.

This lab is for clinical training. The patient is generated by an AI language model from a written case; no real patient and no patient data are involved. Browsing is open; starting a session needs a free account.
